CAC records 10,000 business registrations daily with AI deployment
Abuja, Feb. 9, 2026. ONN…..
The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says it is now processing an average of 10,000 business registration requests daily, following the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) across its service delivery platforms.
The Registrar-General of CAC, Hussaini Magaji, disclosed this on Monday in Abuja during the Anniversary Lecture marking the commission’s 35th anniversary.

Magaji said the adoption of AI has significantly strengthened the commission’s ability to manage rising registration volumes and respond efficiently to customer inquiries nationwide.
According to him, the surge in business registrations is driven by ongoing tax reforms, policies encouraging the formalisation of informal enterprises, and the rapid expansion of digital and social media-based businesses.
“Today, CAC receives nearly 10,000 business registration applications daily, compared to just a few hundred in previous years,” he said.
“Our platforms also process an average of 5,000 customer inquiries every day through emails and call centers.”
The Registrar-General noted that handling such volumes would be unsustainable using manual systems, describing AI as critical to improving speed, accuracy and operational efficiency.
He explained that CAC has evolved from a single manual office in Abuja in 1991 into a fully digital, end-to-end corporate registry, offering 24-hour services to users across Nigeria and beyond.
Magaji acknowledged that the commission faced initial challenges during the transition to an AI-driven registration portal in 2025 but said the reforms were already delivering measurable improvements.
He thanked stakeholders and customers for their patience during the transition period and reaffirmed CAC’s commitment to providing world-class service delivery.
The Registrar-General also announced a strategic partnership between CAC and Google, aimed at strengthening the commission’s technology infrastructure and further improving Nigeria’s ease of doing business.
According to him, the collaboration will enhance portal performance, system reliability and service turnaround time.
Magaji added that CAC has introduced several AI-powered tools on its redesigned website, including an AI legal assistant to address regulatory inquiries and a business name generator to streamline name reservations.
He said the reforms align with CAC’s broader mandate to promote transparency, efficiency and national economic development.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Commerce, Mr Ahmed Munir, pledged legislative support to deepen digital infrastructure, transparency and innovation at the commission.

Munir said CAC’s digital transformation has simplified business registration processes and enabled millions of entrepreneurs to transition from the informal to the formal economy.
According to him, the reforms have strengthened Nigeria’s structured economy by making it easier for entrepreneurs to move from business ideas to fully registered companies.
He called on stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring that regulatory systems support, rather than hinder, Nigerian entrepreneurs.
Similarly, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mr Kashifu Abdullahi, pledged continued technical support for CAC’s digital and AI-driven initiatives.
Abdullahi said CAC’s progress underscored the importance of continuous innovation in public sector institutions.
“We are in the era of artificial intelligence, and meaningful institutional transformation requires its integration into daily operations,” he said.
He assured CAC of NITDA’s support in deploying ethical and responsible AI solutions across its operations.
